Several Democratic lawmakers are upset with Republican nominee Donald Trump’s visit to Mexico, blaming the country for meddling in American politics.

“They’re very good at telling the U.S., ‘Don’t meddle in our politics,'” Democratic Texas Rep. Henry Cuellar said to The Hill. “I think the U.S. needs to start telling Mexico, ‘Don’t meddle into our politics also.'”

“Whoever advised him should’ve given better advice,” Rep. Cuellar added. Mexico’s Finance Secretary Luis Videgaray, reportedly the organizer of the meeting, announced his resignation Wednesday. Mexican President Enrique Pena Ñieto reportedly refused the resignations of two other Mexican cabinet officials.

Democratic New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez said, “I have questioned Peña Nieto’s judgement on several occasions on substantive issues. This only embellishes my thought process on the positions he takes, and I can’t possibly think that he thought through it clearly.”

“I have no idea what they were thinking, but I think it was probably not very well thought out and I think Donald Trump used the president of Mexico,” House Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer said. Mexico invited both Clinton and Trump to visit their country. Clinton said she won’t visit Mexico before the election.
