Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson attempted turn his ignorance of U.S. foreign policy into a positive Tuesday when he said that his ignorance would keep troops out of harm’s way in a Tuesday MSNBC interview.

“You know what? The fact that somebody can dot the I’s and cross the T’s on a foreign leader or a geographic location then allows them to put our military in harm’s way,” Johnson said about his inability to name a foreign leader that he admired.

“We elect people who can dot the I’s and cross the T’s on these names and geographic locations, as opposed to the underlying philosophy, which is, let’s stop getting involved in these regime changes.”

Johnson’s supposed ignorance of foreign policy first came to light during an interview on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” where the presidential candidate asked the host, “What is Aleppo?”, the central city in the Syrian conflict.
