Delivering mail in the Georgia heat can be hard work, but one intuitive mailman found a way to streamline the process: dump all the mail in a ditch.

The U.S. Postal Service is investigating the behavior of one of its employees after a homeowner recorded a mailman carrying boxes of letters and dumping them in a ditch, according to local news station WSB-TV Channel 2.

Kellie Campbell, president of a subdivision in DeKalb County, Ga., recorded a mail truck after it drove up and parked in front of some woods near the the subdivision. Campbell said she recorded the postal worker walking through a hole in the fence and dumping bins of mail in the woods.

“I sat there and recorded for about five minutes and he continued to just grab more mail and continued just to toss it over the fence,” Campbell told WSB-TV.

“At one point he actually stopped and took a break, like he was tired, then he continued and drove off like it was normal.”

“We are investigating this matter,” the USPS told WSB-TV in a statement after Campbell sent the video. “The Postal Service condemns, in the strongest possible sense, behavior that jeopardizes the security and sanctity of the U.S. Mail — or threatens to tarnish the reputation and high level of trust that the vast majority of our employees work so hard to uphold.”
