John Lydon has never been one to do what anybody tells him. Don’t take a boat down the Thames while performing a song mocking Queen Elizabeth? Naff off! Brush your teeth? No thank you, lads! Bash Trump because all the cool kids are doing it? Eat $#!+e, matey!
John Lydon has defended Brexit, Nigel Farage and Donald Trump in a new interview.
The former Sex Pistols frontman (aka Johnny Rotten) appeared on ITV’s Good Morning Britain on Monday (March 27) when he described meeting Nigel Farage as “fantastic”…
The punk icon went on to describe US President Trump as a “complicated fellow”, adding: “One journalist once said to me, ‘is he the political Sex Pistol?’ In a way. ”
WARNING: Contrarian opinions and Piers Morgan being allowed to speak
I tend to share Lydon’s opinion of Trump: I’ve got a lot of problems with the guy, but he’s not a racist. Even with the many, many legitimate avenues of criticism available, our moral, ethical, and intellectual betters have to keep making stuff up. It’s as if lefties can’t fathom opposing somebody without slapping on the worst label they can think of.
And of course, they just can’t stand one of their musical idols expressing the wrong political opinions:
When you see "johnny rotten" trending and you think he's dead, but he's just supporting Trump and Brexit. pic.twitter.com/2lG9Rt7G0W

When I saw "Johnny Rotten" trending I didn't assume he was dead. When I read he is pro-Trump he dies to me anyway. pic.twitter.com/I0kZMZUaBK

"Johnny Rotten supports Brexit and Trump"
Oh
…
I think I'd RATHER he had died.— ScallywagJac (@jac_gatfield) March 27, 2017
Johnny Rotten, supposedly an anti-establishment figure, goes on TV to defend Donald Trump and say he's not racist. What a douchebag.

And so on. How can John Lydon be antiestablishment if he doesn’t march in lockstep with the left?
Of course, this could all be a load of old toss. Lydon will say pretty much anything to wind people up. But it’s fun watching supposed “antiestablishmentarians” being tedious scolds. That’s the trouble with anarchy: So many rules!
