Philando Castile’s 4-year-old daughter begged her mother to stay calm in the aftermath of the fatal shooting, camera footage reveals.

A handcuffed Diamond Reynolds, Castile’s girlfriend, and his daughter were in the backseat of a squad car after Officer Jeronimo Yanez shot Castile, according to evidence released Tuesday by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.

“FUCK!!!!” Reynolds screamed when Castile died. Her young child tried to calm her down, asking her not to say anything so she wouldn’t get “shooted.”

“Please don’t scream because I don’t want you to get shooted,” the daughter said. Reynolds kissed her daughter, trying to reassure her.

WATCH:

“I can keep you safe,” her daughter said. Reynolds attempted to get out of her handcuffs, prompting her daughter to scream out “No please don’t!! I don’t want you to get shooted.”

Officer Yanez pulled Castile over because he reportedly matched the description of a burglary suspect. During the exchange, Castile informed Yanez that he had a gun on him. Yanez claimed that Castile reached for it despite officer commands not to, while prosecution argued that Yanez acted too hastily during the stop. A jury of 12 cleared Yanez of all charges related to the July fatal shooting.
