Hamburg Going Up In Flames During G20 Summit

A video released Friday shows multiple cars engulfed in flames on a smoke-covered street in Hamburg, Germany, where the G20 summit is taking place.

The annual G20 series is being held in Hamburg, where leaders from all over the world gather to discuss the promotion of international financial stability for 20 major economies.

The event is known to attract massive crowds of protesters every year. At least 130 police officers out of the 20,000 working during the conference have been injured in the riots.

Twitter user Lenard Boepple tweeted the video Friday, after a friend sent it to him from Hamburg.

“He is concerned with making it through the weekend. It is not only the violence on the streets but also the fact that some supermarkets have run out of food. Of course he won’t starve, but it is just a very stressful situation and daily life has become an unusual challenge,” Boepple told The Daily Caller News Foundation on behalf of his friend.

Clashes with police still continue and appear to only be getting worse with fires like these. Masked protesters have been throwing “bottles and objects” at the police, according to Deutsche Welle, causing police to respond in full gear using water cannons and batons to try and protect the people of Germany and themselves during this hectic time.
