A conservative black NFL hall of fame head coach congratulated a fellow football player for “speaking the truth” on abortion Sunday afternoon.
Tony Dungy, the former coach for the Indianapolis Colts, praised Benjamin Watson, a tight end for the Baltimore Ravens, for speaking out on how abortion affects the black community.
“I applaud my brother
@BenjaminSWatson for speaking the truth on a controversial issue. Thank you,” Dungy tweeted, referring to a LifeSiteNews article in which Watson described abortion as the “ultimate form of racism.”
“I do know that blacks kind of represent a large portion of the abortions, and I do know that honestly the whole idea with Planned Parenthood and Sanger in the past was to exterminate blacks. And it’s kind of ironic that it’s working,” Watson said in an interview with a faith-based, non-profit pregnancy center.
When Twitter users came out to criticize Dungy for his pro-life view, Dungy refused to back down. Multiple users accused Watson and Dungy of being two men discussing a women’s health issue.
“Do abortions only deal with one woman? Are there any other people involved?” Dungy tweeted, telling another user that abortion is a “moral issue.”
