Pittsburgh Steelers Will NOT Take Field During National Anthem [VIDEO]

The Pittsburgh Steelers will remain in their locker room during the national anthem ahead of their game Sunday against the Chicago Bears.

Stacy Dales of the NFL Network reported that Steelers players made the decision following a meeting with head coach Mike Tomlin.

According to Dales, the team will hold a “ceremonial unification” in the locker room during the anthem.

The move is an apparent response to President Trump’s comments on Friday calling on NFL owners to fire players who refuse to stand for the national anthem. Trump went even further on Twitter, calling on NFL fans to boycott the league.

Trump also rescinded an offer to the NBA champion Golden State Warriors to visit the White House. The team’s star player, Stephen Curry, had said prior to Trump’s statement that he would not visit the White House because of Trump.

The Steelers’ decision is the strongest response so far to Trump’s comments. Numerous players for the Jacksonville Jaguars and Baltimore Ravens kneeled during the anthem prior to their came at Wembley Stadium in London.
