Tom Cruise finally answered something the internet has been awaiting for quite some time: does he wear a fake butt in movies?
Today he responded to all those pesky allegations about him wearing a prosthetic butt for one scene on the set of “Valkyrie.”
The theory was developed and thusly spread by Twitter user @iluvbutts247, naturally.
The tweet reads, “hello, please, I present the theory that for one single shot in Valkyrie (2008), at 5:12, tom cruise wears a fake butt.”

The tweet received some 62,000 likes and over 16,000 retweets.
Here’s the full trailer for context. Fast forward to about 4:45 for the scene in question.
I’m on the internet’s side on this one. That butt is flagrantly not real. Sure Tom Cruise was apparently Mr. America back in his “Top Gun” days but nobody’s butt looks like that except maybe Khloe K.

And unless she was somehow filling in for his stunt double that day I really don’t see how this is anything but a fake butt.
Nevertheless, Tom Cruise persisted.
He told ScreenRant, “I have no idea. There was no prosthetic…It’s me. It’s not CGI, it’s me. I do my own mooning in films. So let it be known — I do my own mooning.”
Twitter butt expert @iluvbutts247 isn’t buying it.
He quickly released a statement. “Tom Cruise definitely wore a fake butt for that scene…I look at butts all the time so I can usually tell when they are fake or real (most times? they’re real). I don’t think there’s anything to be embarrassed about.”
It looks like this is one mystery that might never be solved.
