The Daily Caller’s Vince Coglianese said Monday that Vice President Mike Pence made an important statement by leaving an Indianapolis Colts game when some players kneeled during the National Anthem.

Corey Ealons, former adviser to President Barack Obama, argued that Pence’s statement was staged and therefore meaningless, but Coglianese contended that many American people care about how the president and vice president respond to the NFL protests.

“This is about emphasizing what’s important to the United States,” Coglianese asserted. “You have week after week NFL players who have disrespected the flag, you have a Vice President who knows as he’s going in there…players will take a knee here. So he’s gotta make a decision with the president.”

“You can call this a PR stunt or whatever you want to call it but the reality is it sent an important message that the leaders of the country respect the flag and believe it should be respected in all forums,” he said. “It’s important to a lot of Americans.”
