The internet nearly burned to the ground last night after the United States men’s national soccer team failed to qualify for the World Cup.
The United States has been eliminated from World Cup 2018. The most surreal and embarrassing night in US soccer history.

If you are a American soccer fan, be angry, scream from the hill tops, this should never happen. #USMNT

I honestly have no idea why this is a big deal. We live in America, and we only celebrate excellence. Our men’s soccer team is an embarrassment to this country. It should be shunned and ignored. It certainly shouldn’t be celebrated.
Either win, or go away. This is why I don’t care that the women’s team has players getting arrested and boozing it up at EPCOT. Those women dominate their opponents. Our men show up and get embarrassed by Trinidad and Tobago.
It’s sickening.
We could have made the World Cup, got embarrassed even more in front of the whole world and just repeated the cycle next time around. Maybe this will be a wakeup call to the team that it’s time to either get serious or get out.
And if our team never gets good then so be it. As they say in “Superbad,” it’s just soccer.
