Manziel was a redshirt freshman and relatively unknown when he took the field November 10, 2012. Johnny Football went on to torch the Alabama defense on his way to a 29-24 victory. He would quickly go on to become a household name in the sports world.
There are plenty of things to dissect about Manziel’s career and life. There’s plenty of positives, and negatives. His rise and fall will be a case study in sports for a very long time.
However, his years ago Texas A&M plays are the stuff of a legend. He won the Heisman as a freshman, dominated the SEC and became a larger than life personality. Of course, that all came crashing down a few years later due to off the field issues.
On that day five years ago a legend was born. No matter how the Manziel saga ends, we’ll all remember the insanity of that game and everything that followed.
