Liberals are back to hating on Republican Sen. John McCain now that he has decided to vote for the GOP’s tax reform bill.
Liberals and media pundits fawned over the Arizona senator just a few months ago when he repeatedly dashed Republican dreams of repealing and replacing Obamacare. (RELATED: Liberal Pundits Praise McCain For Vote Against Skinny Repeal)
However, now that McCain is officially a “yes” vote on tax reform, liberals are back to painting him as an evil villian, just as they did when he received his brain cancer diagnosis. (RELATED: Liberals Attack McCain After Brain Cancer Diagnosis)
Paul Krugman, a liberal economist that writes for The New York Times, asserted that McCain’s “legacy” will be one of “partisan hackery.”
“Careful thought and consideration” — based on NO analysis from Treasury or JCT, obvious rush to ram this through before the reality can be appreciated. This is now McCain’s legacy: his final major act is one of partisan hackery https://t.co/4oriwkaLHv

Folks, McCain actually sticking to his “principles” on the health care vote was the anomaly, not his abandoning them all to support the tax bill. Don’t give him that much cred.

In a now-deleted tweet, Huffington Post’s Ashley Feinberg brought out her inner morbidness by alluding to McCain’s death.
“Congratulations to john mccain’s wife and children on their upcoming tax-free inheritance,” she said, referring to the bill’s reforms on the estate tax.
Feinberg deleted the tweet after major backlash, insisting “it’s not worth it.”
i deleted the tweet it’s not worth it

Eric Boehlert, a writer for Shareblue, mocked liberals who referred to McCain as a “maverick” when he voted against the Republican health care bills.

Move On campaign director Sunjeev Very also attacked McCain’s legacy, declaring that it would be “massive deficits.”
McCain announces his support for Senate #GOPTaxScam bill.
His statement is full of disproven claims and ignores all the analysis. If this is McCain’s last term, his legacy will be massive deficits.@SenJohnMcCain statement:https://t.co/HHNTTpUX6w

John McCain maybe just maverick’d us off a cliff.

The fact that McCain voted *against* George W. Bush’s ugly tax cuts for the rich and then voted *for* this far worse bill—which includes partial ACA repeal—gives the lie to the idea that there’s an underlying principle at work here.

“It’s telling that McCain (like other proponents of the bill) feels the need to lie about what the bill does,” said journalist Matthew Yglesias, an interesting claim considering how badly the media has been misrepresenting the details of the bill. (RELATED: MSNBC Anchor Misleads On GOP Tax Reform)
It’s telling that McCain (like other proponents of the bill) feels the need to lie about what the bill does and say it “would directly benefit all Americans.”

Congratulations to John McCain’s doctor, who kept him alive long enough to destroy his own legacy. https://t.co/LPLr1e7wiG

Went to Starbucks and John McCain was the barista. I asked for my “regular order” and he raised my taxes and took my health care away without any hearings.

In a particularly nasty tweet, Media Revolt founder Michael Salamone accused McCain of “sell[ing] out to the highest bidder.”

“He’s a hack,” journalist Rex Nutting declared.

Thom Dunn, a writer for Upworthy, said that McCain proved he has no integrity by choosing to vote “yes” on the bill.
Say what you will about John McCain, but he sure has a lot of integrity for someone with absolutely no integrity at all.
