Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt tweeted Thursday that he’s sending a shipment of his new shoes to a military unit in Afghanistan.
It all started when Watt tweeted out a picture of his new Reebok shoes to hype their release. A soldier in Afghanistan reached out to ask if there was any way Watt could send him a pair while deployed.

Do you ship to Afghanistan? I’m deployed and would love a pair!

That quickly evolved to Watt asking for the sizes of his whole unit, so he could send a pair to everybody.
Great idea.

This is just more proof that Watt is one of the good guys in the NFL. He raised millions for victims of Hurricane Harvey, and how he’s sending a free batch of shoes for the men and women in Afghanistan. He didn’t have to do either, but the superstar defensive terror is known for going above and beyond the call.
There are lots of things you can pick at and criticize in the NFL. Watt is absolutely not one of them.
