Diddy has expressed interest in buying the Carolina Panthers and his first move as owner would be to put Colin Kaepernick in the running for next year’s starting quarterback.

Current Panthers owner Jerry Richardson released a statement on Sunday announcing that he plans to sell the team following an investigation into sexual misconduct allegations. It didn’t take long for Diddy to voice his interest in becoming the next owner.

“‘I believe it’s time to turn the franchise over to new ownership,'” Diddy began, reading from the statement. “Well I need to send a message out to all the people in the beautiful state of North Carolina: I will be the best NFL owner that you can imagine. I will immediately address the Colin Kaepernick situation and put him in the running for next year’s starting quarterback,” Diddy said. “It’s just competition baby. It’s just competition.”

“But also, I will have the best halftime show, the best selection of music and we will win Super Bowl after Super Bowl,” the rapper said.

The 48-year-old entertainer also fired off a few tweets regarding the sale of the team and called for more diversity in NFL ownership.

“There are no majority African American NFL owners,” he wrote. “Let’s make history.”

While some Panthers fans might be excited about the prospect of Diddy taking over, they likely wouldn’t be pleased if he was a package deal with Kaepernick. The Panthers already have a franchise quarterback in Cam Newton and Kaepernick won’t put up much of a competition with him.
