Former Arizona football coach Rich Rodriguez allegedly had his mistress and wife on the sidelines of a game together.

Biz Journal published the allegations against Rodriguez that led to his demise at Arizona, and it includes this gem:

On November 6, 2015, Rodriguez asked Melissa to get a sideline pass for his “friend” for the USC game in Tucson, which turned out to be his girlfriend. During the game, Melissa realized that Rodriguez’s wife was also on the sideline. At some point Melissa had to stand between the two hoping to avoid a confrontation. The following Monday, Melissa complained to Rodriguez about how upsetting it was to be placed in that situation. Rodriguez laughed it off without acknowledging her stress or sense of betrayal to his wife.

I’ve never once claimed to be a genius, but even I know this is the definition of a bonehead decision. First, you shouldn’t be cheating on your wife. That’s not a good thing or something anybody should applaud.

Second, if you are going to be unfaithful, I’d really suggest not bringing your wife and mistress around each other. Again, I’m not a genius, but I feel very safe in my assessment. Of course, this is all just alleged at this point. We don’t know for sure what happened and what is simply speculation.

You’re just begging to be caught or have massive problems on your hand if your wife and mistress are feet away from each other. You should be fired for the pure stupidity alone. Nobody dumb enough to allegedly make this decision belongs anywhere near a big time college football program.
