Melania Trump visited the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum to pay her respect to the victims of Nazi persecution on Thursday ahead of International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
The museum, which many Americans visit every day, is a somber yet essential reminder of the rise of the Nazi Party in Germany and the horrible crimes they committed against millions of Jewish people and others until the Allied forces put an end to their reign.
Mrs. Trump toured the facility with Sara Bloomfield, who serves as the director for the museum. (SLIDESHOW: Melania Trump’s Most Memorable Looks Of 2017)
Thank you @HolocaustMuseum for a powerful & moving tour that honors the millions of innocent lives lost, and educates us on the tragedies and effects of the holocaust. #WeRemember #AskWhy pic.twitter.com/za8MN6pKRZ

“My thoughts and prayers are with the people whose lives and families were broken by the horrors of the Holocaust. Yet it is also through our shared humanity that we come together now in commemoration, strength, and love,” Trump said in a statement released by her office. “My heart is with you, and we remember.”
Melania’s tour ended–as anyone who attends the museum would–at the Hall of Remembrance. The first lady participated in a moment of silence by the Eternal Flame Memorial and lit a candle, which she left at the Prayer Wall before departing.
