Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley was forced to defend herself from rumors she was having an affair with the president, calling such talk “disgusting” Thursday.
Haley said it was “absolutely not true” that she was having an affair with President Donald Trump after “Fire and Fury” author Michael Wolff insinuated the two were having an inappropriate relationship, reports Politico.
“So the idea that these things come out, that’s a problem. But it goes to a bigger issue that we need to always be conscious of: At every point in my life, I’ve noticed that if you speak your mind and you’re strong about it and you say what you believe, there is a small percentage of people that resent that and the way they deal with it is to try and throw arrows, lies or not,” Haley told Politico’s Women Rule podcast.
Wolff hinted last week that he was very certain, but not certain enough to make the claim in his book, that the president and someone close to him were engaged in an affair, while speaking with HBO’s Bill Maher. Wolff claimed that one sentence in his book would reveal the alleged affair. People were quick to believe Haley was the mistress after reading a sentence in his book: “The president had been spending a notable amount of private time with Haley on Air Force One and was seen to be grooming her for a national political future,” Wolff wrote.
Haley pointed out that such a claim was also ridiculous because she was never alone with the president and has not had conversations with Trump about her future.
