It’s been a little while since the Giants finished their 2017 season with a miserable 3-13 record, let’s check in to see how they’re doing.

Still the same? Thought so.

Pat Shurmur held his first press conference today as the head coach of the New York Giants and it did not get off to a good start. Not 30 seconds into the presser, the lights failed right as he said “it’s an honor and a privilege to be the head coach of the New York Giants.”

If that’t not an omen I don’t know what is.

The best part is how he just hangs his head in defeat and offers a melancholy, “and we’re of…huh.” That is one depressed man. You look up the word depression in the dictionary and this is the photo that goes with it:

Just an absolute face of defeat. You’ve gotta feel bad for this guy. He’s coming off an electric season as the Vikings’ offensive coordinator and – although they suffered a crushing defeat by the Eagles last weekend – you have to imagine that even that loss felt better than taking over the disaster that is the NY Giants.

Some of Shurmur’s talking points for how he plans to turn the team around is “we have to figure out what went wrong,” and identifying the players that actually enjoy football.

“We need to find guys that love to play the game. And then we’ll decide whether they’re good or not,” he said.

Well then sign me up to play for the New York Giants. Now I may not have a Heisman, and my only experience may be backyard football, but I love the game. And if love for the game supersedes talent, well then Pat Shurmur I’m your girl. Sit down with me at lunch one day and I’ll show you just how much I deserve a spot on your roster.

And since you’ve already got a full plate, I’ll make your job a little easier. Here’s some leaked footage from my playbook.
