Former GOP Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore said last December that he wouldn’t concede the election results until God told him to do so and we are all still waiting for that to happen.

Alabama voters cast their votes Dec. 12, 2017, electing Democratic Sen. Doug Jones by nearly 10 percentage points.

Moore refused to accept the defeat after the results came in that evening and claimed that God was not done with the special election.

“Realize when the vote is this close that it’s not over,” Moore told reporters.

The former candidate said it is important to realize that God is “always in control” and what voters had to do is “wait on God and let this process play out.”

Seventy-one days have passed since election night last December and Moore still has yet to concede the race to Jones. Apparently, God hasn’t told Moore it is time to throw in the towel.

Candidates are not legally required to concede, but the precedent is to gracefully concede the victory to an opponent, an act that is supposed to be symbolic of the American democratic process.
