Georgia police officers took a Dalton, Ga. teacher into custody Wednesday afternoon after the teacher reportedly fired a shot from his handgun through his classroom window.
The Dalton High School social studies teacher, 53-year-old Randal Davidson, locked himself in his classroom and refused to let students enter, a Dalton Police Department spokesperson said.
When the school principal attempted to open the door with a key, Davidson pulled out his handgun and fired a shot through the window. When police arrived on the scene, Davidson eventually turned himself over to them after about 30 minutes after a school resource officer convinced him to come out of the classroom.
“It certainly seemed like he didn’t have any intention to harm anybody else,” the police spokesperson said.
There is a barricaded subject in a classroom. It is believed to be a teacher.
