It hasn’t exactly been an outstanding week for people who loves guns and ice cold Miller Lite.
President Trump held an open session with some elected officials earlier in the week to discuss gun control, and pretty much appeared very open to instituting restrictions on firearms. That’s not cool. He also then introduced trade tariffs that got denounced by MillerCoors, which makes the tasty Miller Lite.
MillerCoors statement: We are disappointed with President Trump’s announcement of a 10% tariff on aluminum. While we won’t know the details for a week, the Department of Defense recently reported that aluminum does not cause any national security issues. (1/3)

Like most brewers, we are selling an increasing amount of our beers in aluminum cans, and this action will cause aluminum prices to rise. It is likely to lead to job losses across the beer industry. (2/3)

We buy as much domestic can sheet aluminum as is available, however, there simply isn’t enough supply to satisfy the demands of American beverage makers like us. American workers and American consumers will suffer as a result of
this misguided tariff. (3/3)— MillerCoors (@MillerCoors) March 1, 2018
Look, everybody who knows me knows that I’m a big fan of guns and Miller Lite. You can look at my credit card bill on any given month and it’s mostly beer, ammunition, weapons and other badass stuff. To say the least, I am not a fan of gun control. Not even a little bit.
I’m also not a fan of anything that is going to raise the cost of beer. Do you think I’m just carrying around bags of money? Hell no. I’ve got a streamlined budget, and it doesn’t have space for the cost of Miller Lite to go up even a single penny. It might sound awful, but that’s the truth. I honestly never thought I’d give a damn about tariffs, but I don’t have a choice when beer is involved. Do you think I wanted this fight? Of course not. I’m a huge Trump guy. He’s without question the most entertaining President we’ve ever had. It’s a never ending stream of outstanding content.
However, I can’t exactly just sit back and let our guns get taken and our beer prices get jacked up. That’s not what America is all about. We didn’t overthrow the British so that we could live in a society with strict gun control and expensive beer.
Our society was built on the idea that we could slam beer and grip it and rip it with a rifle. That’s what America is all about. I don’t get into all that brainiac political stuff, but I know a line has been crossed when they start coming for guns and beer. We just can’t let that happen.
