President Donald Trump tweeted Monday morning that tariffs on steel and aluminum will get rolled back only if a “new & fair NAFTA agreement is signed.”

Trump’s administration announced Thursday it is planning on imposing a 25 percent tariff on steel imports and a 10 percent tariff on aluminum imports. The administration will roll out more details in the this week.

The president says his reasoning for imposing tariffs on steel and aluminum is to protect and revitalize the American steel and aluminum sectors.

Trump also threw a few caveats down Monday, claiming that Canada must treat American farmers better and Mexico must stop funneling drugs into the U.S.
