GOP Rep. Martha McSally said she strongly supports President Donald Trump’s decision to deploy the national guard to the southern border and believes the country can’t afford to wait any longer to address its immigration crisis.

“I strongly support the president’s decision to send the National Guard to the border,” the Arizona congresswoman said Friday on Fox News’ “America’s Newsroom.”

“The president is a man of action and he appropriately is impatient and this is the right thing to do,” McSally continued. “I represent a border community, border residents and they’re tired of seeing the obstructionism coming out of the Democrats. In order to do what it takes to build the wall, to get the agents what they need, to close the loopholes and to secure our borders — so this is absolutely the right thing to do.”

America must secure its border at all costs, McSally said and believes the National Guard offers a unique skill set to help get the job done.

“We need to do whatever it takes to secure our border,” McSally said. “What I’m trying to say is these national guardsmen, they’re actually going to be getting training in their career fields and doing things that actually help with their capabilities, should they need to deploy. So if you have an intelligence analyst who’s helping now with border security it builds their skills as part of their training if they have to deploy somewhere else.”

“For the people that I represent on the border, we can’t afford not to secure the border,” she concluded. “Until the Democrats stop obstructing, until we build the wall and get the agents that we need we have got to do this. It’s the right thing to do.”
