National economic council director Larry Kudlow feigned nonchalance during a Tuesday gaggle at the White House over reports that the Internal Revenue Service’s website is not working.
“The IRS is crashing,” Kudlow reportedly stated. “Sounds horrible. Really bad. I hope it gets fixed.”

Kudlow clarified that he’s sure the agency will “straighten out” the issue.

The website failed around the same time of the midnight deadline for citizens attempting to file their taxes for fiscal year 2017.
“We are working to resolve the issue and taxpayers should continue to file as they normally would,” acting commissioner David Kautter told lawmakers Tuesday, adding that “taxpayers would not be penalized because of a technical problem the IRS is having.”
