President Donald Trump issued some harsh demands on Twitter on Saturday afternoon, calling for members of Congress to get a few essential items checked off the to-do list before they leave Capitol Hill for their annual August recess.

In addition to demanding that funding be established for the wall and for border security, the president took aim at Senate Democrats and accused them of holding up the line with regard to confirmations.

The idea that President Trump’s nominees are being “slow-walked” is certainly not new — the administration has been accusing Democrats of obstructing nominees for multiple positions since President Trump took office.

Then White House press secretary Sean Spicer told a group of reporters just before the inauguration, “The Democratic leadership is not working with us to ensure continuity of government. Let’s get it done. This is not time for partisan politics.”
