It has not been a banner week for the media. And the question shouted at Sarah Sanders as she was leaving a contentious briefing won’t help. As Sanders was leaving the room, the Playboy White House correspondent Brian Karem shouted: “Has the president ever lied to us?”

Sanders did not respond.

Between misrepresenting Trump’s comments on MS-13 and running with fake news about violent Palestinian rioters, there have been multiple crises of journalistic integrity this week.

Sarah Sanders addressed these multiple slip-ups in the White House press briefing Thursday.

Sanders addressed the issue of media selectively editing Trump’s comments MS-13.

She defended the president’s comments, saying, “This is one of the most vicious and deadly gangs that operates by the motto of ‘rape, control and kill.’ Frankly, I don’t think the term that the president used was strong enough. MS-13 has done heinous acts. It took an animal to stab a man 100 times and decapitate him and rip his heart out. It took an animal to beat a woman they were sex trafficking with a bat, 28 times, indenting part of her body. And it took an animal to kidnap and rape a 13-year-old Houston girl.”

Sanders concluded, saying “The president should continue to use his platform and everything he can do under the law to stop these kinds of horrible, horrible, disgusting people.”
