President Donald Trump commuted Wednesday the sentence of Alice Johnson, a great-grandmother who was serving a life sentence for a non-violent, first offense drug crime.
Johnson was released Wednesday afternoon. Surrounded by family and media, she thanked Jesus, President Trump, and “our little angel” Kim Kardashian, who brought her case to the attention of the president in an Oval Office meeting last week and is credited with helping secure the clemency.
“I want to first of all thank my Lord and Savior, thank Jesus Christ,” Johnson told the crowd of reporters outside the prison. “Without him, I can do nothing, with him I can do everything.”
“I want to thank President Donald John Trump,” she continued. “Hallelujah. Thank you for giving me another chance at life and restoring me to my family.”
Johnson then turned her praise to Kardashian, “Bless Kim, our little angel. Thank you, thank you.”
“I feel like my life is starting over again. This is a miracle day,” she said.

I would like to thank President Trump for his time this afternoon. It is our hope that the President will grant clemency to Ms. Alice Marie Johnson who is serving a life sentence for a first-time, non-violent drug offense.
