Glenn Beck Storms Off Camera During CNN Interview — ‘You Want To Play Those Games?’
Glenn Beck stormed out of a Sunday morning interview with host Brian Stelter on CNN’s “Reliable Sources” following a question about the future of his media empire.
“Have a nice day,” the radio host said, as he cut the interview short.
The segment began with a question about Beck’s recent comments regarding the media and support for President Donald Trump — in particular, a radio segment during which Beck himself had donned a red “Make America Great Again” cap and said that he would vote for Trump in 2020. Beck’s point was that the establishment media’s constant antagonistic and dishonest coverage of the Trump White House — brought into sharp relief by this past week’s furor over TIME magazine’s cover photo debacle — was driving even the president’s harshest critics into his corner. Stelter argued that the media was simply pointing out Trump’s “lies,” and argued that the alternative was to not point out the lies.
Changing gears toward the end of the segment, Stelter asked Beck about a Daily Beast article predicting the end of Beck’s media empire, and that’s when Beck snapped.
Taking off his microphone, he said, “Brian, thanks a lot. I think that’s the most ridiculous question I’ve ever heard. I’m sitting here ready to talk about the detaining of children and parents, and trying to break families apart — something that has been happening with Janet Reno, that’s why it went to the Supreme Court in the first place. Janet Reno! It’s been happening. We want to stop it, and you want to play those games? Have a nice day.”
