President Donald Trump released a Fourth of July message to the American people Wednesday commemorating the revolutionary war that began in 1776.

“General George Washington fought a long tough war with the British to win America’s freedom, win they did…together as we celebrate the Fourth of July with friends and family let us never forget that our freedom has been earned through the blood, and sweat, and sacrifice of these American heroes,” Trump said, adding “let us share the grateful heart of our nation with every member of the U.S. Armed Forces.”

Trump and his wife First Lady Melania Trump will host a fireworks viewing party of military families late Wednesday at a celebration for military families.

Trump’s party will be broadcast in partnership with the Hallmark channel and will feature a live performance “from musical artists Sara Evans, pianist Lola Astanova, former American Idol finalist Jax, recent American Idol finalist Jonny Brenns, “The President’s Own” United States Marines Band, The United States Navy Band Sea Chanters, and The United States Air Force Band’s Max Impact.”
