Hillary Clinton just got some sobering news if she’s even considering another run for president in 2020.
A Rasmussen poll released on Tuesday found that a whopping 73% of likely Democratic voters want a different nominee in 2020. Or, as the pollster put it, Democrats want “a fresh face.” Only 16% of those Democrats favor a candidate who has already run for president.
That’s quite a dramatic shift from the months leading up to the 2016 nomination, when only 36% of Democrats wanted a fresh face.
And it only gets worse for Hillary.
Rasmussen found that 58% of likely voters now think Clinton actually has been bad for the Democratic party. That includes 39% of Democrats who believe she was bad for them — and only 33% of Democrats think she was good for the party.
The pollster also found that 63% of independent voters felt Clinton has been bad for Democrats.
Perhaps most encouraging for Republicans, Rasmussen reported: “Only 40% of all voters believe America would be better off today if Clinton had been elected president instead of Trump.”
The survey sampled 1,000 likely voters on July 11-12, 2018 — and Rasmussen says the margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence.
