An MSNBC contributor asserted President Trump’s performance at the Helsinki summit was equivalent to events such as Pearl Harbor and 9/11 on Monday night.
“At some point, this has a complexity that’s even richer than the one you were involved in with the Watergate investigation in that nobody thought that Richard Nixon was working on behalf of an enemy of the United States,” MSNBC host Ali Velshi said. “How do you even make sense of this?” he asked.
“You can’t make sense of it. It’s very hard to possibly analyze…And it’s just as serious to me as the Cuban Missile Crisis in terms of an attack or the 9/11 attack,” Jill Wine-Banks, a former Watergate prosecutor, responded. Banks did not stop there, she again drew comparisons between Trump’s performance and other catastrophic world events.
“And I would say that his performance today will live in infamy as much as the Pearl Harbor attack or Krystalnacht. And it’s really a serious issue we need to deal with” she concluded.
This criticism comes amid widespread and bi-partisan backlash against the President’s remarks in Helsinki. (RELATED: DICTIONARY.COM TWEETS ‘PATRIOT’ AND ‘TRAITOR’ DEFINITIONS AFTER TRUMP-PUTIN MEETING)
