“Morning Joe’s” Tuesday political panel claimed President Donald Trump has wasted his recent economic victories, with his botched send-off of the late Sen. John McCain.

“You know, Donald Trump inherited an economy that had been roaring forward for seven years — a seven-year recovery. It’s doing even better now,” MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough said. (RELATED: Scarborough Still Hammering Trump For Treatment Of McCain, Calls Him A Clown)

“The last quarter’s GDP was high. Next quarter’s GDP may even be higher,” he said. “If he would just get out of his way with this McCain situation — drop a polite one paragraph statement, let it go, move on to other things. But he can’t get out of his way can he?”

“Morning Joe” guest and BBC World News America anchor Katty Kay agreed with Scarborough and said the president should have capitalized on the positive economic news, instead of making things personal with McCain.

“That’s the incomprehensible thing about this president. Yesterday he had great economic news,” Kay replied. “The NASDAQ went through 8,000 for the first time. The S&P index as well, breaking records. Make that the story of your day, rather than the fact of the way you mishandled and bungled the McCain situation and the flag, which was totally unnecessary.”

“And then to blame it on social media for saying this is bad news — it’s not because of social media that we talk about the bad news in the White House. It’s because of the way the White House mishandles things and becomes this constant drama fest,” she concluded. “That’s what it is. He could have spoken just about the good news.”
