MSNBC host Joe Scarborough lit a firestorm Tuesday morning when he published an op-ed in the Washington Post declaring President Trump has damaged America more than any terrorist ever could.
The piece was published on the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks and was widely criticized and condemned as tone-deaf.
And during MSNBC’s Sept. 11 episode of “Morning Joe,” Scarborough doubled down on the assertion, claiming that Trump is “tearing more at the fabric of America far more than the attacks on the Twin Towers did. We became stronger because of that. But this seems to me a far graver threat to the idea of America.”
The co-host then said Trump’s division of the country was what Osama Bin Laden wanted.

Former U.S. Navy SEAL Robert J. O’Neill knows a bit about what Osama bin Laden wanted.
O’Neill was on the mission that killed Osama bin Laden and has claimed to have fired the shots which ended the life of the world’s most notorious terrorist and the mastermind of the September 11 attacks. O’Neill had a one word descriptor for Scarborough’s article: “Disgusting.”

Scarborough has issued a pseudo-apology for his op-ed, saying on Twitter, “I’ll read the column again and think about whether I could have said the same thing in a way less offensive to Trump supporters on September 11th.”
