The ratings for the “Monday Night Football” AFC West showdown in Denver are up 8 percent over the same time last year.

According to ESPN Tuesday, the Monday night 27–23 victory of the Kansas City Chiefs’ lead by quarterback Patrick Mahomes against the Denver Broncos scored a 9.1 in overnight ratings, according to Nielsen based on metered market results. (RELATED: NFL Ratings Tank–Worst Viewership In Nearly Two Decades)

In comparison, last year’s Week 4 game (when the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Washington Redskins 29–20) earned an 8.4 rating.

Monday night’s rating was not only up over the comparable 2017 matchup but showed the highest overnight rating the football series has had since the 28–17 Dallas Cowboys victory over the Arizona Cardinals on September 25, 2017. That game earned a 9.3 overnight rating.

Up until last night’s game, the “MNF” series has seen a steady decline over the last three weeks. Last Monday, the Pittsburgh Steelers 30–27 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers scored a 7.2 rating with 12.01 million viewers.
