My beloved Wisconsin Badgers continued to fall this past weekend in a win over Rutgers.

The Badgers might have defeated the Scarlet Knights 31-17, but it was far from a successful event. Why do I say this? Because virtually the entire damn student section was empty!

Look, I get this season has been a massive disappointment on every single level possible. I totally understand. Trust me, the pain cuts me deep just as much as it cuts all of you. (RELATED: The Latest AP College Football Poll Is Here. Number Four Won’t Make SEC Fans Happy)

However, that doesn’t mean this is acceptable. I expect our student section to at least be nearly full by kickoff. I don’t care who we’re playing. It just needs to be done. If not, then we’ll find people to actually use the tickets who will show up. It’s that simple.

The idea students are owed tickets and then shouldn’t have to show up is incredibly stupid. I stand in solidarity with Nick Saban after he ripped Alabama students for the same reason.

As a graduate of Wisconsin, I am disappointed and not happy. Think about how these optics will impact recruiting. What player will want to play in front of an empty student section?

The answer is they won’t. It’s that simple. I would never have allowed this to happen during my days in school. I guess Madison just isn’t what it used to be. That’s a disgrace and everybody who played a role here needs to take a long look in the mirror.
