Democratic New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand made a campaign stop at an Iowa bar — but a local woman seeking some ranch dressing appeared to steal the show.
Gillibrand was speaking to a small crowd at the Airliner in Iowa City when a woman cut through the crowd. When the New York senator turned to address her, the woman explained that she was “just trying to get some ranch.”

Gillibrand was in Iowa ahead of an official declaration of her 2020 presidential campaign — she has so far only announced the formation of an exploratory committee and was ribbed about that while on the trail in the early voting state.

First question for Kirsten Gillibrand in Iowa City is about whether or not she’s declared an official presidential campaign (she has not, just an exploratory committee). “Why not do it now?” a voter asks. “Because I want it to be special!” she says, adding she’ll announce soon.

While in Iowa, Gillibrand thanked 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton for putting “65 millions cracks” in the glass ceiling. She also promised total support for the Green New Deal and amended her statement on the changing story regarding the alleged hate crime — now considered a possible hoax — involving “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett.
