Cincinnati basketball coach Mick Cronin wants some new players ahead of the AAC tournament.

Following a Sunday loss to Houston, Cronin claimed that he was holding open tryouts for new players. In fact, he was even going to call up the football team to search for some new guys. (RELATED: Duke Star Zion Williamson Suffers Sprained Knee In Loss To North Carolina)

The tryouts were apparently held Monday.

My friends, welcome to the world of college basketball. Coaches out here making empty threats with their best impression of Robert De Niro in a mob film.

Let me be real with all of you. Cronin is full of it here. He’s not going to change his roster going into March Madness.

The Bearcats are currently slated to be a seven seed. He’d have to be among the dumbest people one the planet to switch things up, and I’m sure his players know it too.

Do you have any idea what would happen if he tried playing in the conference tournament or March Madness with new players? They’d get curb stomped. The Bearcats would lose by 50.

Now, I’d find it hilarious, and I’d love to see it. It would be entertainment gold, but it’s not going to happen. No chance in hell, and everybody knows it.

Drop the ‘tough guy’ act and get back to coaching.
