Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Julio Urias has been arrested on a misdemeanor domestic battery charge.
According to TMZ Tuesday morning, a witness said Urias allegedly shoved his “female companion” to the ground at the Beverly Center in California, but the woman denied it was anything more than a verbal exchange.
However, the police apparently didn’t believe her because he was arrested after witnesses and video were taken into consideration. Urias was released early Tuesday morning.

According to the same TMZ report, the Dodgers didn’t have any specific comment on the situation at this time, but told TMZ, “every allegation of domestic violence must be taken seriously and addressed promptly.” (RELATED: MLB Star’s House Gets Robbed For The Fourth Time. This obviously doesn’t sound like a great situation. Of course, Urias is innocent until proven guilty. This is America, and let’s all be thankful that’s the standard we live by.
However, you can expect the Dodgers and the MLB to drop the hammer if Urias is convicted of a domestic violence-related charge.
Pro sports are getting tougher and tougher on players accused and convicted of such crimes, and that’s a good thing.
