Oakland Raiders Sign Richie Incognito To One-Year Deal

Richie Incognito is officially back in the NFL.

The former Dolphins and Bills star was signed to a one-year deal by Jon Gruden’s squad, according to Ian Rapoport on Tuesday. Financial details aren’t public at this time.

I’m actually surprised Incognito was able to reach a deal. I’m happy for him, especially after his off-the-field issues. (RELATED: Oakland Raiders Are Working Out Richie Incognito)

You never want to see a man struggle like he has, which included an ultra-bizarre funeral home arrest. The fact that the Raiders signed him must mean they feel he’s in a healthy place.

When Incognito was at the top of his game, the man was a beast on the offensive line. That was awhile ago though, and he hasn’t been in the league since 2017.

Can he still play at that high level? Who knows? But the Raiders wouldn’t sign him if they didn’t think he couldn’t still play.

NFL teams aren’t in the business of charity. They’re in the business of signing players who can help them win.

Now, we’ll have to see what Incognito can do as a lineman who will turn 36 before the season starts. Guys that old don’t generally hit home runs in the NFL.

It’s a harsh truth, but it’s the truth. Time will tell how well he does, but at least he’s doing well enough to get back in the league.
