An Australian detective and former rugby player ditched his own recorded interview to make a caught-on-video tackle of an alleged criminal who was being chased.

Detective Daren Edwards sprung into action and rekindled his former sporting days when he brought the 39-year-old suspect to the floor. The man he flattened was quickly handcuffed and charged with inappropriate communication with a teen, Reuters reports.

Edwards is said to be from Redcliffe, an area on the coast of Australia. He earned praise internationally for what rugby players would call a “boots and all” tackle, the outlet says.

“Great tackle,” one man said.

Another user seemed to enjoy Edwards’ athleticism.

Edwards suffered minor injuries to his head and he scuffed his suit. (RELATED: 11-Year-Old Slashes Intruder’s Head With Machete, Suspect Escapes From Hospital)

“You never know what (the job) will bring,” Edwards said, “Suit was ready for a dry-clean anyway,” Reuters reports.
