The family of the late Republican Arizona Sen. John McCain condemned a fake video that showed President Donald Trump slaying McCain and other political opponents.

While the video had no connection to the president or his campaign, it has attracted condemnation from pundits and politicians on social media. (RELATED: Meghan McCain Rips Seth Meyers For Defending Ilhan Omar)

“I stand with the [White House Correspondents Association] in registering my outrage,” McCain’s widow Cindy tweeted.

The late senator’s daughter and co-host of “The View” Meghan McCain also chimed in with criticism over the video, responding to a tweet from conservative commentator Stephen Miller.

“One of the people in this video is my Dad, sitting senators and congresspeople,” she said. “Please don’t insult me or them by insinuating this is anything like heavy metal. This could inspire violence towards REAL people.”

Trump had a tense relationship with the late senator, and commented earlier this year that he was “never a fan” of McCain, and never would be.
