Rep. Katie Porter questioned a former Maine health and human services official on a state welfare assistance application in a House oversight hearing in February.
“This is a six-page application for [the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program] SNAP. … There’s so many pages I’m dropping them,” the California Democrat told Foundation for Government Accountability Policy Director Sam Adolphsen.
Adolphsen is a former chief operating officer at the Maine Department of Health and Human Services, where he ran SNAP in the state for four years.
“This is information that is much more extensive than for example I am required to provide in my congressionally mandated financial disclosures as a member of the House of Representatives to the American public,” Porter continued.
