Rep. Katie Porter questioned a former Maine health and human services official on a state welfare assistance application in a House oversight hearing in February.

“This is a six-page application for [the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program] SNAP. … There’s so many pages I’m dropping them,” the California Democrat told Foundation for Government Accountability Policy Director Sam Adolphsen.

Adolphsen is a former chief operating officer at the Maine Department of Health and Human Services, where he ran SNAP in the state for four years.
