The Illinois Fighting Illini will bring back football and basketball players in early June.
According to Brett McMurphy, Illinois players will be allowed to return for voluntary athletic activities starting June 3. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)
They’re just the latest Power Five program to bring back athletes during the coronavirus pandemic.

Another day goes by, and we have another school starting to get back to business as usual during the pandemic.
With every school that brings athletes back, we’re one step closer to football happening. We’re one step closer to the season getting underway.

Illinois isn’t even a good Big 10 team. In fact, they’re a bit of a joke. Outside of their upset of Wisconsin last season, they’re not any good.
When a team like that starts opening up, you know the traditional powers are going to be all-in on playing again. That’s just a fact.
At this point, it feels like something shocking would have to happen in order football to not happen. Everything is lining up for a positive outcome.
