After being consistently outpaced in online fundraising as the digital era of politics takes hold, Republicans are deploying new strategies to narrow that gap in Georgia’s runoff election, one which will determine which party holds power in the United States Senate.
Democratic challengers Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock out-raised incumbent Republican Sens. David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler online about five-to-one and 20-to-one respectively in the lead-up to the November general election, according to a new Politico report. Since then, with national attention descending upon the Peach State, the GOP has reportedly cut that gap to just two-to-one — and they’ve done so largely by deploying the strategies that gave Democrats an edge in the first place.
