According to MMA Junkie, East had been charged in the past for a variety of allegations, including beating up a fellow high school student, domestic violence, kidnapping and aggravated battery.

It sounds like East’s life was troubled for a very long time before finally meeting a very violent end. While I’m not a lawyer, if it’s proven he did shoot his girlfriend before being killed, you’d have to imagine that’s a textbook definition of self-defense.

What an awful situation for his girlfriend and the other man involved. It’s truly terrible.
