President Joe Biden’s administration recently dismantled an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office created by former President Donald Trump that served those victimized by illegal immigrant crime.

The Victims Of Immigration Crime Engagement (VOICE) was created during the early days of the Trump administration and aimed to provide victims of illegal immigrant crime various services and information, including the perpetrator’s immigration or custody status. Biden decided to replace VOICE with The Victims Engagement and Services Line (VESL). The new office will have some similar features to the Trump-era office, but will have additional focus on reporting abuse and mistreatment in immigration detention centers, have a notification system for involved parties in an immigration case, and add services for potential visa recipients, according to The Associated Press.
