Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi appeared maskless at her press briefing Friday morning just days after the House mandated all staffers and visitors mask up.

While speaking at the “Progress For The People” press conference, Pelosi was seen speaking to the crowd maskless and did not immediately put a mask on after she finished her speech and introduced the next speaker.

Pelosi was seen wearing a mask at a later point but then chose to remove the mask toward the end of the event to speak. Several other speakers also went maskless.

Another video posted to Twitter showed Pelosi taking a photo with a group of people while masked before removing her mask while the others did the same. (RELATED: ‘Arrest My Entire Staff. We Are Not Wearing Masks’: Rep. Massie Heckles Pelosi Over Mask Mandate)

Pelosi isn’t the only one seemingly ignoring the new rules. Attending House physician Dr. Brian Monahan remained maskless Wednesday afternoon while trying to explain to House Republicans his decision to reinstate the mandate.

The House mask mandate was reinstated after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated its guidance on July 27 that everyone, regardless of vaccination status, should wear a mask indoors to protect against the delta variant.

Visitors and staff who do not wear a mask and do not comply with orders to do so can be subject to an arrest for “unlawful entry.” Representatives who fail to comply will be referred to the House Sergeant at Arms.

The new rule does leave an exception for when a representative is in a ceremonial situation or addressing the chair of a committee.

Republicans have criticized the new mask mandate as a power grab.
