The once upon a time highly-recruited quarterback is now at UNLV after previous unsuccessful stops at Ohio State and Miami. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

It’s truly his last crack at finding any success at the college level.

Just how close did the former major recruit come to never playing another snap? In a recent TikTok video, Martell revealed he nearly quit before landing at UNLV.

I would never encourage anyone to give up on a dream, but I think I speak for just about every football expert out there when I say Martell’s window on being a star is closed.

He didn’t last at Ohio State, he didn’t last at Miami and we have no reason to believe he can cut it at UNLV.

Is he even capable of playing at a high level? I somehow find it hard to believe he can.

Early in his career, Martell had all the potential in the world. Now, he’s become a punchline to a joke that nobody is laughing at.

It’s been kind of sad to see.

Best of luck to Martell, but I think it’s safe to say the door has been closed on him ever becoming a college football star.
