Former Border Patrol Chief Rodney Scott spoke out against President Joe Biden’s border and immigration policies in a Sept. 11 letter to Senate leadership and the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs.

Scott said that he witnessed an “unprecedented seismic shift” in border and immigration policy in January 2021. He blamed these policy changes for the current border crisis, according to the letter, Fox News reported.

“Of greater concern, I also witnessed a lack of any meaningful effort to secure our borders. Contrary to the current rhetoric, this is not simply another illegal immigration surge. This is a national security threat,” Scott wrote.

“Low level, unsophisticated, and uneducated smugglers are illegally crossing the border and increasingly evading apprehension daily. To think that well-resourced terrorist networks, criminal organizations, and hostile nations are not doing the same is naive,” Scott continued.

He said that every recommendation made by the civil service staff to secure the border was “summarily rejected.” He also noted that Secretary Mayorkas and other Department of Homeland Security (DHS) political appointees gave incorrect information to Congress and to the American public regarding border policy and immigration.

Scott said that the mass incursion at the border was not “simply” an immigration issue. “The illegal entries are being scripted and controlled by Plaza Bosses that work directly for the transnational criminal organizations (TCO) to create controllable gaps in border security. These gaps are then exploited to easily smuggle contraband, criminals, or even potential terrorists into the U.S. at will,” Scott said.

Scott also said that there are not adequate facilities to test all migrants for COVID-19, nor are they required to be vaccinated on release, according to the letter.

This event occurs as the Biden Administration’s DHS Chief of Staff Karen Olick recently resigned amid the migrant crisis at the southern border and the recent influx of Afghan refugees.  (RELATED: Joe Biden Enjoys A Bike Ride By The Beach While The Southern Border Disintegrates)

Migrants at the border are being told to wait under Del Rio International Bridge for processing without proper access to food and clean water or adequate toilet facilities. “The Biden administration is in complete disarray and is handling the border crisis as badly as the evacuation from Afghanistan,” Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott said, as previously reported.
